Project Description

SMUDGING

The practice of burning herbs for medicinal and spiritual healing and to clear the build up of emotional or spiritual negativity has been used since ancient times.

As an energy healer I have been working helping to shift energy for people all my life. . . wether its releasing stuck and stagnant energy from a physical person or clearing away negative heavy energy from homes and spaces.

There are various methods I like to use including Feng Shi, Crystal Grid Work, Sound, Singing Bowls and the burning of Sacred Herbs. . . known as Smudging.

White Sage is an inexpensive way to cleanse your home, it is easy to use and the bundles of dry herbs can be bought from most local herb or health stores.

Have you ever used the term – ‘you could cut the atmosphere with a knife’? you are feeling the energy after arguments, bad moods or stressful situations. . . it is tangible.

Essentially the energy in our environment and the electromagnetic field around our body can become blocked with dense positive ions which can make us feel rundown, tired and burnt out.

Burning sage or other herbs neutralises the positive charge and releases negative ions into the atmosphere. This means that our own energy, and the energy around us, will feel lighter and fresher whilst purifying and cleansing the atmosphere.

Studies have shown – That burning of sage can improve your mood, increase clarity and awareness and enhance the memory. It is no coincidence that the word sage stems from the Latin word salvia, which translates to “healthy” or “to heal.” And is also used to describe someone steeped in wisdom and humility.

Some of the ‘science behind smudging here

A SMUDGING RITUAL WITH SAGE

What you will need: A smudge bundle, A fire proof bowl and a wide feather and some matches.

Set an intention of what you want to achieve, focus your awareness on releasing and raising the vibration of the space.

Perhaps there is a particular energy you want to release from the atmosphere, a mood, an illness or simply to freshen up a room.

Light the sage and gently blow on the flame or waft until only the embers are glowing and the sage is producing a smoky trail.

The smoke is what clears and removes negativity, and it is common to have to relight the sage a few times during the ritual.

You can smudge yourself by slowly waving the sage around your body, starting at the floor and then moving it up over your head and around in circles. Its lovely to do this with a partner or loved one.

You can smudge with the sage sitting in a fireproof bowl or you can buy a holder. .  I like to use a wild turkey feather to help waft the smoke into all the nooks and crannies.

As you walk around each room, you may find you are compelled to remain in certain areas longer than others. This is where the energy is densest. This practice shouldn’t be hurried so allow the sage to remain burning for as long as it feels necessary.

When moving around with the sage, pay attention to windows, doors and any other openings.

Enjoy

Blessings!
